Reunion is the GLBT Historical Society’s annual Gala, where we gather to celebrate our vast queer past, honor the history makers who move our communities forward, and raise funds to keep LGBTQ history alive. Audition for Broadway Bares SF!

After being on hiatus for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Broadway Bares SF is finally back and will be holding auditions soon for their next show. Broadway Bares SF, a spin-off from the long-running Broadway Bares fundraiser in New York, is a thematic burlesque/strip-tease show that fundraises for AIDS-related charities. The New York show, which was founded in 1992 by Jerry Herman, enlists Broadway performers to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Save the Oasis Telethon!

UPDATE: The telethon was held on March 6, 2021, and we’re delighted to report that it was an amazing success. Oasis started the day having raised $110,000 in pre-telethon donations, already breaking their initial goal of $100,000, and ended the day having raised an amazing total of $255,435 (last time we checked), exceeding their goal by more than 150%! The funds from the initial goal of $100,000 will be used to pay off the mounds of bills that Oasis continued to incur even while closed — rent, utilities, and other expenses. With San Francisco and now California’s orders to shut bars and clubs, many people who work in San Francisco’s LGBTQ nightlife scene – bartenders, barbacks, security, drag performers, go-go dancers, and more – are suddenly finding themselves without an income. In addition, the “shelter in place” policies are also cancelling the private parties that many bartenders and performers used to supplement their income. The latest edition of the annual Santa Skivvies Run fundraiser was held on Sunday, December 8, 2019 to raise money for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. The fundraiser features tons of daring participants getting sponsors to donate in exchange for stripping down to their holiday-themed undies and braving a cold mile-long run through the Castro.
